In this episode:
On the 38th episode of their GreatBase Tennis podcast, Steve Smith and Andy Fitzell discuss the life and times of the legendary Harry Hopman. The discussion is the first part of a two-part series. Simply put, Mr. Harry Hopman compiled a winning record that would, no doubt, stand next to best with every sport ever played.
Mr. Hopman earned the respect of the entire tennis world and was elected to the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 1978. He was both a world-class player and a world-class coach. The success he had with Australian tennis players in the ’50s and ’60s is beyond comprehension. His record arguably will always have people, rightfully so, calling Australia the “greatest tennis nation ever.”
